Practicing architecture since 1986, Doug lends a unique combination of skills that can only be attained through experience coupled with innovative forethought. His desire to offer clients expertise in the entire planning process has afforded him a crucial and non-traditional role in project management. With an extensive knowledge base including capital budgeting, present value calculation and quality functioning development (QFD), Doug has been able to take on an active role in assisting clients from the earliest design stages. Through his experience as a facilities engineer, Doug gained insight and understands firsthand the ramifications of design as well as a working knowledge of maintenance and facility operations.
Doug's first structure, the Pro Shop for Beaver Island Golf Course, was designed while attending the University of Buffalo's School of Architecture in the summer of 1983, and was built for the New York State Parks and Historic Preservation.
In the fall of 1989, Doug had the opportunity to start his Architectural Practice which continues to operate as Scheid Architectural, having completed over 1200 projects ranging in value up to $15,000,000. The array of project types continues to expand in numerous market segments including: Industrial, Financial, Recreational, Medical, Office, Retail, Educational, and Community.

Doug is currently licensed to practice and holds registrations in the following locations:
Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia .
Further, Doug is a National Council of Architectural Registrations Board Certificate Holder, (NCARB), which permits reciprocal registration throughout the United States and most foreign countries.

Doug is a member of the Alpha Rho Chi having been awarded the 1984 Medal for Leadership, Service and Merit at the University of Buffalo. He has continued this desire to serve the public through volunteer efforts as past chair and member of the Grand Island Zoning Board of Appeals, Long Range Planning Committee, and various blue ribbon committees concerning public law and ordinance development. Doug has donated time and services to several not-for-profit organizations including St. Columban Center, St. Leo the Great, St. John the Baptist, The Buffalo Launch Club, and The Children's Guild of Buffalo.
Professional memberships in the American Institute of Architects, U.S. Green Building Council, National Fire Prevention Association, and the International Council of Building Officials aid in keeping current with issues that affect the practice of Architecture and creation of buildings.
