Tonawanda Engine Plant

Medical Department
- Relocation / Rehabilitation

This project involved relocation and renovations to the existing Medical Department at the world's largest Engine Plant. The project required coordination of numerous separate prime contracts including relocatable wall system vendors, General Construction contractors, hazardous materials contractors and several separate engineering groups.
GM Powertrain required the drawings to be completed and out to bid in less than three weeks from project approval. We were also required to coordinate temporary facilities for occupancy during the 8 week construction phase of the project.

Metrology Lab Relocation

This project involved the construction of 4,000 sf of office and lab space to accommodate the relocation of the existing Metrology Lab within the confines of the existing plant.
Successful design and execution of the project involved extensive on-site documentation and design revision in order to fit the many constraints of the program: vibration isolation for gage equipment to 0.0001" accuracy, supply of a clean air environment within the existing Engine Plant and limited space within the plant. Restrictions in the footprint of the labs led to the design of office space and an equipment mezzanine within the confines of the intersecting roof trusses.
